Toschi has been making syrups since 1945 and publishes no product FAQ of any kind. These are the questions we actually get asked, answered from the manufacturer's own published ingredient and nutrition data — and, where Toschi publishes nothing, a straight admission of that rather than a guess.
Are Toschi syrups gluten-free?
Every one of the 53 Toschi products we stock carries Toschi's own gluten-free badge — all 43 syrups, all three Barista Sauces and all the toppings, including the ones containing wine and egg. Gluten is simply not a variable across this range.
Are they vegan?
42 of the 43 syrups carry Toschi's Vegan badge. The single exception is Honey Syrup, which does not carry the badge even though its ingredient list contains nothing animal-derived. We do not know why, so we do not describe it as vegan.
Among the sauces and toppings, the Chocolate Barista Sauce and the Blueberry, Strawberry, Mango, Dark Chocolate and Wild Fruits toppings are vegan-badged. The Caramel and White Chocolate Barista Sauces contain milk; Tiramisu contains egg; Zabaione contains both. Full breakdown in our vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guide.
Which Toschi products contain nuts?
Two of the 43 syrups: Almond Milk Syrup (10% almonds) and Orgeat Syrup (flavourings containing almond). No others.
Note that Hazelnut Syrup and Amaretto Syrup, despite their names, contain no nuts at all. This surprises most people and we wrote about it separately: seven Toschi syrups that do not contain what their name says.
Which contain dairy or egg?
Four products. Caramel Barista Sauce (cream and butter) and White Chocolate Barista Sauce (condensed milk) contain milk. Tiramisu Topping contains 25% sweetened egg yolk. Zabaione Topping contains both egg and condensed milk. Tiramisu and Zabaione also both contain Moscato wine.
None of the 43 syrups contains dairy or egg.
How much sugar is in a Toschi syrup?
Between 63g and 88g per 100ml, depending on flavour. Most classic café flavours sit at 87g. The lowest are Lime (63.1g), Raspberry (63.4g) and Lemon (66g); the highest is Brown Cane Sugar at 88.4g.
Energy runs 345–359 kcal per 100ml, clustering tightly at 348. Toppings and Barista Sauces are lower in both — 248–315 kcal and 35–55g sugars per 100g.
How much syrup goes in a drink?
Toschi publishes no dosing guidance, so the honest answer is that it depends on your pump. The Toschi portion pumps we supply deliver 31ml or 38ml per full press, which means a 1L bottle yields 32 or 26 presses respectively. Those doses are considerably larger than the pumps most online recipes assume, so copying a “three pumps” recipe will give you a very sweet drink. Where are they made?
Italy. Toschi Vignola s.r.l. was founded in the hills of Vignola in 1945, and has been based at Savignano sul Panaro, in the province of Modena, since 1959. Both towns are in Emilia-Romagna. Most resellers say only “Vignola” — the founding town is Vignola, but the factory is in Savignano sul Panaro.
What do the product codes mean?
- P## — the 1L professional syrup range (Mixtime). This is what we stock.
- TR## — the 0.56L retail bottle. Not always the same recipe as the 1L.
- L## — the Topping line.
If you are matching a delivery to a purchase order, the code is more reliable than the flavour name.
Is the 1L bottle the same product as the smaller retail bottle?
Not always, and this catches people out. Several flavours are genuinely different recipes at different sizes. The 1L Orange is 22% orange juice; the 0.56L retail bottle is 10%. The 1L Strawberry is 35% strawberry pulpy juice against 22% in the retail bottle. The 1L Lemon uses natural flavourings only where the retail version does not.
So a specification copied from a European retail listing may not describe the bottle on your bar. Every figure we publish is from the 1L professional range.
Are Toschi products halal or kosher?
Toschi holds Kosher (Parve), Halal HQC and Halal Global certifications — at company and plant level, not per product. We do not put a halal or kosher claim on an individual product page without a certificate naming that product. If you need certified status for a specific SKU, ask us and we will request the document.
Bear in mind that two products in the range, Tiramisu and Zabaione, contain Moscato wine.
Will a syrup curdle my milk?
Toschi publishes nothing on this, so this is our reading rather than manufacturer guidance. Nearly every fruit syrup lists citric acid as an acidifier, and acid plus milk is how you split a drink. The flavours formulated for milk are the café ones — vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, amaretto, cinnamon, Irish cream. Toschi's own use tags point the fruit syrups at drinks, granitas and lollies rather than lattes.
Test any new combination on one drink before it goes on your menu.
What Toschi does not publish
We would rather be straight about this than fill the gaps with plausible-sounding numbers. Toschi publishes no figure, in any language, on either of its websites, for:
- Shelf life or best-before period.
- Storage conditions, before or after opening. There is no “refrigerate after opening” statement anywhere.
- Dosing per drink. No ml-per-cup guidance exists for any product or line.
- A formal allergen declaration. Only ingredient lists. Every allergen note we publish is our reading of those lists.
You will find shelf-life figures for Toschi products quoted on third-party distributor sites. Those are not Toschi's own statement and we will not republish them as fact. Our own storage guide covers what you can sensibly do in a tropical climate without a manufacturer figure.
For any of these four, the label on the physical bottle is the authority. If you need something in writing from the manufacturer, ask us and we will request it.
Where do your figures come from?
Ingredients, nutrition and dietary badges are transcribed from product pages published by Toschi Vignola s.r.l. on their own shop, which carries this data for around 234 products — and which almost nobody outside Italy ever finds. We read the pages covering the range we stock and put the data on our own product pages, per SKU, with the Toschi product code so you can check it.
Anything we could not verify, we have left out and said so.
