Which Catcher Gourmet Syrups Have Zero Added Sugar?

Sugar-reduced drinks stopped being a niche request some time ago. If you are building a menu around them, this is a differentiator sitting in your existing supplier list that most cafés do not know about.

Catcher Gourmet states a zero-added-sugar claim on 11 of its 19 flavoured syrups. Here is the list, followed by an honest account of what that claim covers and what it does not.

The eleven

That is a workable café menu on its own — the four classic coffee flavours (vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, almond), two citrus for iced tea and sodas, a mint, an Earl Grey, and a plain sweetener for anyone who wants sweetness without a flavour.

The eight without the claim

Blue Ocean, Chocolate, Grapefruit, Matcha, Peach, Pistachio, Salted Caramel and Strawberry.

Do not read this as “these contain sugar.” The manufacturer simply does not make the claim on these eight. It may mean they are sweetened conventionally; it may mean the claim has not been extended to them yet. We do not know, and we are not going to guess in either direction.

What the claim does not tell you

Three honest limits, because a claim you misunderstand is worse than no claim at all.

1. “Zero added sugar” is not “zero sugar” and it is not “low calorie.” It means sugar has not been added as an ingredient. It says nothing about sugars naturally present in a fruit component.

2. The sweetener is not named. Catcher does not state which sweetening system these syrups use. If you have customers avoiding a specific sweetener — or you are marketing to a keto or diabetic-friendly positioning — that gap matters, and we would rather tell you it exists than let you find out from a customer.

3. There is no published nutrition data. Catcher publishes no ingredients, no nutrition panel and no sugar figures for any of its 48 products. So we cannot give you grams per 100ml the way we can for the Toschi range, and nobody else can either.

If you need a figure for a specific product, ask us and we will request it from the manufacturer in writing. Anything they send back goes straight onto the product page.

The halal question

This comes up constantly and deserves a precise answer rather than a reassuring one.

Catcher Gourmet states a halal certification at brand level, and repeats it explicitly on eight specific products:

We stock all eight.

What is not published: the certifying body, the certificate number, or an expiry date. For a café that simply wants to serve halal-friendly drinks, the manufacturer's claim may be enough. For an institutional buyer, a hotel group, or anyone who has to satisfy an auditor, it is not — you need the certificate itself.

If you are in the second group, tell us and we will request the document from the manufacturer. We would rather get you paperwork than repeat a claim we cannot evidence.

Where Catcher Gourmet is made

Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Worth knowing for two reasons: it is a short supply line into the Philippines compared with European brands, and Malaysian food manufacturing operates in a well-established halal regulatory environment — which makes the certificate request above a reasonable and answerable one.

Using them on a menu

The one preparation figure Catcher publishes anywhere is for a sauce-based hot drink: 30ml sauce, 60ml hot water, 120ml milk. That is a useful starting ratio for the Gourmet Sauce line, though it is not a syrup dosing figure.

For the syrups, Catcher publishes no dosing guidance at all. We are not going to invent one and present it as the manufacturer's. If you want a starting point from our own bar testing rather than from the brand, ask us and we will give you one clearly labelled as ours — and our guide on pump yield and cost per cup explains how to measure your own dose in the meantime.

Where this range stands

For complete honesty: Catcher Gourmet's own site is a B2B enquiry catalogue rather than a technical library. It publishes no ingredients, allergens, shelf life, storage instructions, nutrition or case-pack data for any product. That is a real gap, and it is the brand's to fill.

Closing it takes one request to the manufacturer for technical data sheets, the halal certificate and preparation ratios across all four Catcher lines — and we are happy to make it. Anything that comes back goes onto the product pages here, sourced and dated, so you can see where each figure came from.

In the meantime, if a customer asks you something about a Catcher product and you cannot answer it from the label, ask us. If we do not know, we will say so and go and find out.
